From the Vineyard:
The 2016 growing season afforded dry growing conditions with ample sunshine and high temperatures. The vines were trimmed in late January with a focus to keep bud count low. After bud break arrived in late April, we implemented a number of cultural practices to maintain optimal vine health. Select leaves were removed from the vines twice during July and August, ensuring additional sun exposure to the clusters. During early Veraison, some grape clusters were discarded from each plant to adjust the crop load. The culmination of the lengthy growing season and our cultural practices allowed for ideal ripening conditions, leading to an exceptional hand harvest of our Stoltz Block® Cabernet Sauvignon on October 24, 2016.
